Syteca 7.18 introduced the new flexible licensing model with separate PAM seat licenses, and shipped the Account Discovery feature for the first time.
Upgrading from 7.17 or earlier requires action. After updating to 7.18, PAM seat licenses must be assigned to all users who need to use any PAM (Password Management or Account Discovery) features. Existing users will not be able to use PAM until seat licenses are assigned. See Assign PAM seat licenses.

7.18.50 (Build 7.18.318)

Issues fixed

  • Password Management (PAM) — various high-priority PAM issues fixed.

7.18 (Build 7.18.235)

New features

  • New licensing model. Syteca has changed its licensing model to offer more flexibility by allowing separate applications and features to be enabled in the product license serial key:
    • Selected applications and the features they contain can now be enabled in different license types. See Licensing overview.
    • Action required: new PAM seat licenses must be assigned to all required users after updating, for these users to be able to use any PAM features (Password Management and Account Discovery). A Warning popup is displayed after updating to remind you. Use the toggles in the PAM column on the User Management page to assign seat licenses. See Assign PAM seat licenses.
    • New custom endpoint license types can include various combinations of the applications enabled. See Manage the serial key.
  • Account Discovery (PAM) — introduced. Allows accounts to be discovered by performing a network scan, and then onboarded into secrets. Two workflows:
    • Add and run account discovery rules.
    • Onboard the accounts discovered into new secrets (individually or via Bulk Action).
    See Account Discovery.
  • Password Management — record activity while secret is in use. The new Record user activity while the secret is in use checkbox allows the activity of Syteca Connection Manager users to be monitored only when they are connected to the account in the corresponding secret. See Add a secret.

Improvements

  • Management Tool UI redesigned. The Main Menu navigation pane has been redesigned, with some page names changed and the order/groupings/layout rearranged.
  • Password Management — UI/UX improvements. Various improvements on the Password Management page, including columns displayed by default, new icons (e.g. to show the secret type), and floating action buttons (to move secrets between folders more easily and audit secrets). See View and manage secrets.
  • Password Management — View / Copy split. The View Password and Copy Password functionality permissions have been separated into 2 different advanced permissions to allow only one of them to be granted to users of a secret. See Permissions for secrets.
  • Web account secrets — Incognito mode. Google Chrome now opens in Incognito mode only when using a Web account secret (but not when otherwise opening Chrome).

Issues fixed

  • System updates — if the database was isolated from Clients before updating, the associated Warning popup window was not displayed after updating.
  • Installing Clients — the Client installation packages containing .ini files (Linux x64 .tar.gz + .ini, and Windows .ini + .exe) could not be downloaded due to the “Access to the path… is denied” error.
  • Client management — the “Something Went Wrong” error was displayed in certain cases when opening the Client / Client Group settings (for all types of Clients).
